Garage Door Side of Our Pet Doors
Our pet doors are 20-minute fire-resistant doors UL tested and certified. Garage fires are a serious issue, so installing the right dog door or cat door to your garage is the very important in regards to fire ratings.
How it works: Our pet door heat sensor will detect heat from a fire. The fusible link will release the door. The fire-rated door will drop and close creating a fire-rated assembly. The intumescent seals will expand during the temperature rise creating a smoke seal.
What is the difference between fireproof vs fire resistant in fire doors?
Fire-resistant: Underwriter’s Laboratories (UL) gives fire resistance ratings when they perform a fire resistance test. Fire doors are given various fire resistance ratings, and should only be installed in areas that match the needed resistance. Most all homes have a minimum 20-minute fire rating on all doors going to the garage.
Fireproof: Is similar but normally would be unable to be damaged by fire. Most safes are fireproof. Most residential fire doors are fire-rated.
